Request for Records
The Records and Archives Centre of the Diocese of Brisbane provides a limited research service (including the issuing of replacement certificates). There is a charge to cover the research and the administration involved. The research fee is non-refundable, including on rare occasions that the search yields no results.
The Records and Archives Centre holds the majority of baptism, marriage, confirmation and burial registers created by the Diocese of Brisbane for the 19th and 20th Centuries.
Certain registers for the latter part of the 20th Century (and the 21st) may still be held by the responsible Parish. Members of the Public should contact the relevant Parish Office prior to submitting a request for a certificate. Staff at the Records and Archives Centre can only generate a certified copy from records held at the Records and Archives Centre. Any fee paid for certificates where the register is not held or where the details cannot be located is non-refundable.
Members of the Public can apply for the research service by completing the online request form (see below).
To proceed with a search for certificate details, the Archives will require copies of identifying documentation and proof of payment before the search can be undertaken. These can be provided by email. Details regarding payment and identification are provided once the request is submitted.
