The Mission to Seafarers is a world wide missionary society of the Anglican Church and operates in over 230 ports worldwide In Australia, MTS operates in 28 ports around the long Australian coastline – one of the largest seafarer welfare commitments in any maritime country – and aims to expand into more ports based on demand for Mission services from seafarers visiting regional ports.
Mission to Seafarers Brisbane Inc. operates the Seafarers Centre at Fisherman Islands in the Port of Brisbane.
The centre is open 10am to 10pm, 365 days a year.
Our Seafarers Centre team comprises of a Centre Manager and around 25 volunteers. Our volunteers come from many different groups and walks of life. All are dedicated to the welfare of the seafarers we serve.
We provide:
Transport to and from ships. Our buses make over 8,000 trips around the port each year, travelling some 86,000 km and carry over 25,000 seafarers from and back to their ships
Pastoral Care, Counselling and welfare services to seafarers as required
Computers installed for free usage for Skype and internet access
WiFi access for Seafarers’ devices.
