Archbishop Jeremy Greaves

Archbishop Jeremy Greaves was installed as Archbishop of Brisbane, and Metropolitan of the Province of Queensland, at St John’s Cathedral on Saturday 16th December 2023. Read the article from anglicanFocus here.

The Most Reverend Jeremy Greaves was ordained a Deacon in 1997 and a Priest in 1998 and has held a number of appointments in South Australia and the Northern Territory including Dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Darwin and Administrator of the Diocese of the Northern Territory.

Archbishop Greaves came to Queensland in 2013 as Rector of Buderim Parish. He was appointed Bishop of the Northern Region in 2017.

Archbishop Greaves is passionate about finding ways for the Church to engage with the wider community, be a respectful participant in public discourse and continue to be a place where everyone is welcome.

Archbishop Greaves is married to Josie and they have three children.


Regional Bishops

Bishop Cameron Venables

Bishop for the Western Region

The Right Reverend Cameron Venables was ordained a Deacon in 1993 and a Priest in 1995 and has held a number of appointments throughout Australia and Papua New Guinea.

He was consecrated a Bishop in 2014 and appointed Bishop of the Western Region. He was previously Ministry Coordinator and Rector of the All Saints’ Community in Rockhampton and the Chaplain to the Rockhampton Grammar School.

Bishop Venables has a passion for many forms of mission, social justice and creative arts. He is deeply thankful to God for the call to work with gifted ordained and lay leadership throughout the Western Region, and for the many signs of growth and vitality in parishes and schools.

Bishop Venables is married to Kate and they have three children.

Bishop Sarah Plowman

Bishop for the Northern Region

The Right Reverend Sarah Plowman was made a Deacon in 2004, ordained a Priest in 2005, and consecrated as an Assistant Bishop in June 2024.

She began her career as a Physics and Maths teacher, during which time she explored a vocational call into youth ministry. After serving in parish and Diocesan roles in youth ministry, she returned to schools as a lay chaplain, eventually pursuing a call to ordained ministry.

Since ordination, she has served as chaplain at three Anglican schools, loving the energy and dynamism of the educational environment. In 2020, she transitioned out of school ministry, taking on the challenging role of the Director of Discernment and Formation, based at St Francis Theological College. In this role she was able to explore and develop the nature of vocation, and encourage Anglicans in their journey to ordained ministry.

She is married to Darius, with two daughters and two step-daughters, all in their late teens. She loves hiking, camping and running, as well as tending and growing her garden which is full of native plants, birds, insects and lizards!

Bishop John Roundhill

Bishop for the Southern Region

The Right Reverend John Roundhill was ordained a Deacon in 1993 and a Priest in 1994 and has vast experience in parish, school and international ministry, having worked in a parish in England, as a school chaplain in Scotland, and as Sub-Dean of St John’s Cathedral in Hong Kong.

Bishop Roundhill has returned to Queensland to be appointed as Bishop of the Southern Region in 2018, after working in the regional Diocese of Bendigo as Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral since 2012. Prior to this he served in Brisbane as Rector of Aspley-Albany Creek, and as an Area Dean and then Archdeacon.

Bishop Roundhill has a keen interest in social justice, and is committed to the mission of God and in seeing that mission expressed in contemporary ways.

Bishop Roundhill is married to Frances Thompson and they have two children.
