A bequest can change many lives. You can make a real difference to the good work of the Anglican Church Southern Queensland (ACSQ) by making a Will and choosing to leave a bequest which will be a lasting symbol of your generosity. Past bequests have enabled the establishment of new rural and urban ministries, community support in times of hardship and programs and facilities to help those in need.

A bequest gives you the opportunity to give your assets to the people and causes you care about most

You can choose to support causes, programs, communities or institutions that align closely to your values or that you have a special connection with. In the past bequests have helped to further the good work of the Church’s charity initiatives, community care services such as Anglicare Southern Queensland, Anglican Schools, St. John’s Cathedral and rural or remote parishes. Your bequest is an opportunity to offer support where you choose.

The following is a short list of common Will clauses that may guide you in your decision to make a bequest.

For General Purposes
“I give and bequeath the sum of $…… (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Synod of The Diocese of Brisbane and the receipt of the Diocesan General Manager shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

For a Specific Parish
“I give and bequeath the sum of $…… (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Synod of The Diocese of Brisbane for the general charitable and religious purposes of the parish of [ ], and the receipt of the Diocesan General Manager shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

For a Specific Diocesan Purpose
“I give and bequeath the sum of $…… (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Synod of The Diocese of Brisbane to be applied for the benefit of [ ], and the receipt of the Diocesan General Manager shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

Anglicare Southern Queensland For General Purposes
“I give and bequeath the sum of $…… (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Synod of The Diocese of Brisbane for the benefit of Anglicare Southern Queensland and the receipt of the Diocesan General Manager shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

Anglicare Southern Queensland For Specific Purposes
“I give and bequeath the sum of $…… (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Synod of The Diocese of Brisbane for the benefit of Anglicare Southern Queensland for the purposes of [ ], and the receipt of the Diocesan General Manager shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

Cathedral General Purpose
“I give and bequeath the sum of $……. (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Lesser Chapter of The Cathedral Church of Brisbane to be applied for the benefit of St John’s Cathedral and the receipt of the Chapter Clerk shall be sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

Cathedral Completion
“I give and bequeath the sum of $……. (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Lesser Chapter of The Cathedral Church of Brisbane to be applied towards the completion of St John’s Cathedral and the receipt of the Chapter Clerk shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

Cathedral Maintenance
“I give and bequeath the sum of $……. (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Lesser Chapter of The Cathedral Church of Brisbane to be applied towards the maintenance of St John’s Cathedral and the receipt of the Chapter Clerk shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

Cathedral Organ and Choir
“I give and bequeath the sum of $……. (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Lesser Chapter of The Cathedral Church of Brisbane to be paid to the Organ and Choir Fund and the receipt of the Chapter Clerk shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

Cathedral Choral Music Trust
“I give and bequeath the sum of $……. (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Lesser Chapter of The Cathedral Church of Brisbane to be paid to the Choral Music Trust and the receipt of the Chapter Clerk shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

St. Francis’ Theological College
“I give and bequeath the sum of $…… (or the rest and residue of my estate) to The Corporation of The Synod of The Diocese of Brisbane to be applied for the benefit of St. Francis’ Theological College, and the receipt of the Diocesan Registrar shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”
