Public transport costs are currently prohibitively expensive for people seeking asylum, who are on low incomes and often do not have the opportunity to work. This often prevents new arrivals from attending crucial appointments, language classes and participating actively in the community.

The Queensland Government is currently conducting a review of fares for public transport in Queensland. The report is expected to be handed down in coming months, and will be followed by broad community consultation.

Add your voice to a campaign advocating for fare concessions for people seeking asylum. It’s a very small change that will make a huge difference to some of the newest Queenslanders.
